Swim 100 Meters crawl /free style 2. Swim at least half a Kilometer 3. Perform the following dives 1. Racing dive from the edge of the pool. 2. Dive from board at least three meters above the surface of the water 3. Neat dive from a spring board, or a run 4. Perform some individual stunt in fancy diving or in swimming or plunging( such as Swallow dive, Backwards dive, forward somersaults, plunging 10 meters 5. Satisfy the examiner that he is capable of instructing a non swimmer in basic principles of swimming. 6. Pass or re pass the test (1) of the Swimmer badge: swim 50 meters with clothes on(shirt and shorts as minimum) and undress in water with feet off bottom. # Master Sportsman SD-3(Corresponding badge for under 14Yrs 6 months – JD-3-Sportsman) {% hint style="info" %} Objective: - Be able to show a good skill and a basic knowledge of sports {% endhint %}  1. Take a very active part in at Least one of the following games : Rugby football, Association Football, Cricket, Hokey, Basket ball, Volley ball, Elle( The examiner might decide on any other games in addition depending on the situation. 2. Have represented his school, House, class or club in one of the above games and have reached reasonable proficiency and have shown good sportsmanship in it. 3. Be able to referee or umpire at one of the games selected by him. 4. Be able to take charge of a practice of one of the games that he has selected and show the examiner that he knows the kind of activities that should be carried out at such practice 5. Know the national and international players of distinction in at least two of the above games during the current year. 6. Be actively interested and know the rules and the techniques of ONE of the following – Boxing, Wrestling, Karate,, Judo, OR Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table tennis,, Chess, Carrom. 7. Explain to the satisfaction of the examiner the type of training he undergoes to keep himself fit and active. # Horseman SD-4(Corresponding badge for under 14Yrs 6 months – JA-1- Linguist) {% hint style="info" %} Objective: - Demonstrate the skill in handling , looking after and riding a horse {% endhint %}  1. Should be an active and a regular rider of a horse or pony and understand the meaning of balance and correction. Know the reasons for Maintaining the correct seat and applying correct aids 2. Be able to fit saddlery & have Knowledge of its care and cleaning. 3. Know the various articles of grooming kit and be able to use them. 4. Have an elementary knowledge of shoeing and first aid 5. Know the governing principles of feeding and watering, and be able to put these principles into practice. 6. Know the governing principles of ventilation in the stable 7. Be able to rug up and bandage correctly # Archery SD-5(Corresponding badge for under 14Yrs 6 months – None) {% hint style="info" %} Objective: - Demonstrate the skill in archery and the history of archery in Sri Lanka {% endhint %} 1. Own a bow & arrows. 2. Be able to score: - 1. At 50 meters with a regulation target, 60 points with 3 arrows and 2. 80 points with 30 arrows. 3. Know the basic history of archery in Sri Lanka. # Marksman SD-6 (Corresponding badge for under 14Yrs 6 months – JD-6 Junior Marksman) {% hint style="info" %} Objective: - Demonstrate the Advance Skill In Sport Shooting In Sri Lanka {% endhint %} {% hint style="warning" %} This badge is still in draft documents and not published officially. {% endhint %} 1. Knowledge in using and maintaining an air rifle, air pistol, bb gun 2. Be able to score: 1. A. 50m rifle 3 positions 3×40 shots prone, standing, kneeling 2. 50m rifle prone 60 shots prone 3. 10m air rifle 60 shots standing 4. 50m pistol 60 shots 5. 25m rapid fire pistol 60 shots 6. 10m air pistol 60 shots 7. Trap 125 targets 8. Skeet 125 targets 9. Double trap 150 targets 3. Know the rules and regulations of rifle, air rifles, air pistols and bb guns given by international shooting sports federation 4. Be a member of school shooting sports club or Sri Lanka national rifle shooters federation # Social Group # World Friendship SE-1(Corresponding badge for under 14Yrs 6 months – JE-1-World Frienship) {% hint style="info" %} Objective :- Demonstrate the interest in other countries, the desire to make friends from another country and the knowledge about different world organisations {% endhint %}  1. Have an elementary knowledge of the geography, history and the people of at least three countries other than his own. 2. Have corresponded with(Social Media accepted) regularly for not less than an year with a Scout from another country (either individually or as a part of a Troop link up) 3. Have some knowledge of the organisation and the activities of the WOSM and in particular the Asia Pacific Region 4. Have done at least two of the following :- 1. Camped or hiked at least two days with a Scout of another country. Produce records of this to the examiner 2. Visited another country and called on Scouts there, or attended a foreign Jamboree or a National Jamboree where foreign Scouts took part. 3. Have kept an album or scrap book for at least one year which depicts the national affairs, sports, culture and Scouting activities of the country where he has a foreign friend 4. Be able to teach the Scouts a song, and a game from that country 5. Here is a list of mandatory fields recommended by the badge examining authority. * Name - Full name * Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY) * Address * Scout Registration number * School * Scout Group - *39th Colombo Scout Group* * Scout Section - Junior * Contact number * Email address ### Details of the International friend(s) The badge report should contain information about your international friend(s). Each friend should consist a separate table. {% hint style="danger" %} It is very important that you ask to share pictures, list personal details and **get their consent before you include those in your report**. You must specify who has access to your report data (Whether it resides with you or you handover to another authority) and what you are planning to do with the information or content. This consent must be obtained by the Scout himself/herself or from a parent/carer to process the data of a young person {% endhint %} * **Portrait or Pictures of your international friend(s) :** You may include photos of your international friend(s) or other pictures your friend(s) share, **only** with his/her/their consent. * **Proof of Chats and Calls :** You may include screenshots or logs of your chats, calls and any other type of media used for communication in your report as the proof of your friendship with his/her/their consent. * **Other information** : You may include other information as per your requirements (Scout Group, hobbies, family details, etc) with his/her/their consent. ## Aids to Friendship * There is an extensive section on friendship, how to build friendship, who are bad friends, what to do when a friendship goes bad in the 'Safe from Harm Training Manual of SLSA' * Possible topics for discussion with friends such as their hometown, where they grew - up, school life, activities they love, sports they play and love, home and chores, cultural highlights, family & friends, favourite dishes & food, religious festivals and accomplishments. * Friends will be encourages to teach each other their own favourite games/ songs/ activities; with the help of their parents, they can even exchange easy recipes from each nation involved with their friends. It is expected that these mutual exchange of ideas will be taught to their own troops. * SLSA plans to have it's own friendship Bank in the near future. After that initiation scouts can obtain contacts for their communication and the achievement of their badge. * Scouts and Rovers also can contact friends formed from International World Scout jamborees, Jota joti, etc. *22 Rodney Place
