Objective: - Be able to show a fairly good skill in one language other than the Scout’s Own language.

Pass the following tests in any language other than his own.

1. Carry on a conversation lasting 15 minutes. The conversation to include some of the words in the basic Scout vocabulary such as the words for Scout, Patrol, Camp, tent, camp fire, Troop etc.&#x20;
2. Write a letter of at least 300 words, dealing with one of the several topics given by the examiner.&#x20;
3. Read aloud intelligibly, and give an approximate translation (without the help of a dictionary) of a paragraph of average difficulty from a book, news paper or a periodical.
