1. Pass or have passed the Coxswain badge&#x20;
2. Be able to reads a sea chart, plot a position by three methods and lay off a course making allowances for variations and deviation of the compass and tidal set&#x20;
3. Know the different types of Buoys, light houses and light vessels in general use, and the usual danger, storm and fog signals. Discuss Beaufort wind and Sea Scales&#x20;
4. Understand the use of a Barometer in fore casting weather&#x20;
5. Know the proper gear that should be carried in a sailing boat to ensure the safety of the vessel under all conditions.&#x20;
6. Organize and take charge of a Patrol expedition of 48 hours minimum duration in a boat. Journey to a point at least 10 KM from start and return Keep a log showing course and distances. Route to be prepared by candidate with proper reference to tides etc.&#x20;
7. Read mariner’s Compass marked in points and degrees and be able to estimate roughly (using chart and tide table) the depth of water and state of the tide.&#x20;
8. Demonstrate how to take soundings
